Throughout the middle ages and into the renaissance the majority of armies were compromised of infantry armed with spears and shields, or crossbowmen. Although the majority were peasants with little to no armour, there was a professional solider core that was more heavily armed and armoured. Equipped with Chain mail armour and steel helmets these soldier made up the backbone of the many armies that fought in this tumultuous period. The Crossbow was such an effective weapon that the Catholic Church tried to have them banned. Able to punch through the armour of the time, the only downside compared to the long bow was the slow reload. This boxed set contains 48 plastic miniatures. They can be assembled as up to 24 Crossbowmen, or all 48 with an assortment of hand weapons and shields. These models are supplied unpainted and require assembly.

Throughout the ages, the battlefields of the world have seen all forms of warfare - from huge war machines pummeling the enemy into submission, to huge infantry clashes which see hundred of thousands of men charge headlong at each other - but, no matter what form it may take, all wars require leaders. The most inspiring leaders are those who lead from the front - those that are at the very head of the charge as his men race toward the enemy, with their lances levelled.

The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, commonly known as the Knights Templar, were among the most famous of the Western Christian military orders. The organization existed for nearly two centuries during the Middle Ages. Officially endorsed by the Catholic Church around 1129, the Order became a favoured charity throughout Christendom, and grew rapidly in membership and power. Templar knights, in their distinctive white mantles with a red cross, were among the most skilled fighting units of the Crusades. This boxed set contains 24 plastic miniatures, up to 12 can be equipped with crossbows, or all can be equipped with hand weapons and shields.

Throughout the crusades, Templar Cavalry were used to break enemy battle lines and overrun enemy positions... their sheer force and the weight of their charge was enough to dislodge even the most determined of defender. Wearing heavy armour, and armed with the finest forged lances, they always sought the most valuable target first, striking at the very heart of the enemy.
