Warlord Games Dacians (28mm)

Warlord's new Dacian command group are a brutal front rank for any Legionary to come across. They carry a Draco standard fluttering its Serpent shaped head in the wind. One of them rasps out a blaring call on his carynx encouraging his followers to greater heights of ferocity. If that was not enough, the third man in this party is a broad shouldered brute who scorns the traditional shield and instead carries two lethal looking falx hand axes, all the better to batter Roman shields down with.

Decebalus, or "The Brave" , was a king of Dacia and is famous for fighting three wars and negotiating two interregnums of peace without being eliminated against the Roman Empire under two emperors. In the short peace granted by Trajan, Decebalus continued to act as an independent king, rather than a conquered client and repeatedly annoyed or infuriated the Romans.

Warlord’s Decebalus is sculpted commanding his troops in his armour and heavy shield. His shaman advisor is close to hand, clutching his staff against the wind.

Warlord Games’ Dacian War Host appear as they would to a Roman commander, ranked up behind their well-equipped and richly dressed Chieftain. They are fighting under the billowing draco standard and driven to fever pitch by the rasping, bellowing sound from the long-necked carynx horn.

If this was not enough to cause consternation in a soldier far from home, many Dacian warriors are wielding the dreaded falx – a double-handed war scythe! This brutal weapon could slice through a shield or cut off a limb with one savage blow.
