Auxiliaries is a term used to describe non-native soldiers in Roman service. The term nowadays can almost be read as pejorative, but the auxiliaries of Imperial Rome were hard fighting men!

Well-equipped and well-trained these men, sometimes from quite diverse backgrounds and cultures, bonded together into tough units, officered by Romans. Auxiliary units did a great deal of the fighting despite the glory boys in the Legions receiving all the acclaim!

The 24 auxiliaries in this boxed set are equipped in chainmail and carry the hasta stabbing spear and gladius shortsword. They carry the trademark oval shield and could be seen on the battlefield supporting the Legions or as an independent force in their own right.

Each box of Imperial Roman Auxiliaries contains enough plastic parts to make 24 Auxiliary models & 1 sheet of 35 shield transfers, with a clear background which will work over any coloured shield background.

The Roman Auxiliary Might bundle contains 12 boxes of Roman Auxiliaries, enough to build 288 models.

With the absorption of the Greek states into the Roman Republic in 146BC the highly advanced Greek military technology started to find its way into the Roman military - chief amongst these was the Ballista, a stone-throwing siege engine.

After refining the Greek design the Balliasta became a highly accurate weapon (there are many accounts of single soldiers being picked off by ballista operators). Roman Dromedarii (Camel Riders) - Warlord Games

CODE: WG-IR-CAM-01

Currently Unavailable

Dromedarii were camel riding auxiliary forces recruited in the eastern, desert, provinces of the Roman empire. The best-known unit was the "ala I ulpia dromedariorum milliaria" (The Ulpian Wing of Camel-riders, One Thousand strong), raised by the Emperor Trajan and stationed in Syria. Roman 'mixed' auxiliary cohorts (cohortes equitatae) in the East often contained some dromedarii - about three dozen in the case of cohors XX palmyrenorum equitata stationed at Dura Europos in the early Third Century. A few would be sent out on patrol with the infantry and cavalry.

Robed against the beating sun, cluttered with amphorae and water skins, these fellows are tooled up for business, be it dismounted skirmishing or a full bloodied camelry charge.

The Imperial Roman Dromedarii pack contains 3 metal Roman Camel Rider models.
