The famous seventy five millimetre gun of the Great War served France and other countries well in the Second World War too. Used extensively throughout the war this model was reliable and could take on bombardments or anti tank duties.

Just prior to the war, the French army could field 2000 British 3”mortars, but it was of a metric calibre of 81mm. By the outbreak of war, French regiments could put out 9 x 60mm mortars and 8 x 81mm mortars, meaning the French army had 8000 in total. Mortars can put down short savage barrages that were justly feared by infantry on all sides. Gamers tip; one mortar is never enough....

For all the glamour and so called ferocity of the German armoured troops, it was troops like these,the brave French infantryman who faced up to them and inflicted upwards of 140 000 casualties on the invading German columns in 1940.

Each battalion was made up of 3 companies of four officers and 190 men,the company divided into a HQ section with a 60mm mortar and four platoons each of three sections, and a heavy weapons company of 4 officers and 190 men with 16 machine guns , two 25mm a/t guns and two 81mm mortars.

Riflemen were equipped broadly with the MAS 36 rifle, a sound and accurate design with a 5 round mag. Section support was given by the reliable if pedestrian FM24/29 light machine gun , the assistant gunner armed with pistol only. A few mAS38 sub machine guns were delivered late on as were a few Thompson guns , but all were uncommon.

The French Infantry Squad blister pack contains 12 metal WW II French Infantry miniatures.

The German flak 43 was a ubiquitous automatic anti-aircraft gun that served in most theatres of WW2 with the Army Navy and Luftwaffe.It carried quite a punch and was rightly feared by Allied fighter bombers, one hit often being enough to down a fighter. It would be found on patrol craft with the Navy and was also employed in a ground role, in an anti-tank and anti-personel role.

It comes with a seated gunner, and two other operatives, scanning the skies for prowling allied aircraft.

A mortar crew consits of three members, the gunner controls the deflection and elevation of the weapon, the assistant gunner loads the round at the command of the gunner and the ammunition man prepares and hands over ammunition to the assistant gunner.

The German Light infantry support gun mark18 was a short-barrelled 75mm howitzer. It was used throughout the war in most theatres and gave good quality, much needed support to the hard-pressed Infantry. It could be towed by light tractor, or even pulled by hand into position where its low profile, small size and rapid fire made it a useful addition to the frontline strength.

Warlord's model captures its stubby outline nicely and with its action packed 3 man crew is a no brainer to add to any force..
